Ramblings from mrs. Rascoe

I know what you’re thinking… what has Ms. Rascoe’s class been up to this year? Other than pure enjoyment and shenanigans every day, we have been working hard at building our academic and life skills even more than before. We have dived right into reading iconic books (Because of Winn-Dixie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Stuart Little, Hoot, and Wonder) and ending each book with a marvelous movie party while recapping important and hilarious moments of each book, acting out the movies, and enjoying egg salad sandwiches. This has made all these lessons rewarding for everyone. We’ve been focusing our math time on concepts that will be helpful when we graduate. Our science and social studies time has been occupied by traveling through different National Parks, learning about the United States and our presidents, and watching unique videos from Mystery Doug. We’ve been building many different life skills through becoming independent at completing tasks throughout the school, managing our coffee cart, and maintaining wonderful friendships. We look forward to finishing out the school year before we celebrate Clayton’s success at his graduation!

I’m going to end this article with a preview of my next article, coming out in June, which will be all about the arrival of the “Hunger Busters.” What is that, you might ask? Well, you will have to wait to see. It involves these four awesome students and this Clayton expression… “From breakfast to lunch, we give you something good to munch!”
